Venue
The conference will be held at the Nanakuma Campus of Fukuoka University. Fukuoka University was founded in 1934 and now has 29 departments in 9 undergraduate faculties and 32 majors in 10 graduate schools that together accommodate more than 21,000 students. Registration desk on November 21 (Wednesday) is located on the 1st floor of building 22, the 60th Anniversary Memorial Hall. From November 22, the registration desk will be placed on 1st floor of building 9. A-. See campus maps. (campus map 1(pdf file), campus map 2(pdf file))

How to reach conference venue:

From Hakata station and Fukuoka airport

You take a subway of Kuko Line bound for Meinohama and get off at “Tenjin” station. Then, you walk toward “Tenjin-minami” station of subway Nanakuma Line through a shopping mall. It takes about 8 min on foot. You take a subway bound for Hashimoto and get off at Fukudai-mae station. See the campus map. (campus map 1(pdf file) It takes about 40 min from JR Hakata station, and about 50 min from Fukuoka Airport.

You can buy a through-ticket (Hakata or Airport – Tenjin –Fukudai-mae). Please note that you MUST PASS through a transfer ticket gate (in green) at Tenjin and do not forget the ticket. Otherwise, you have to buy one more ticket at “Tenjin-minami” station

How to buy a ticket for subway

You can buy a ticket at automatic ticket machines at any subway station. First, you find a fare to your destination on the fare panel and put a bill or coins into the machine. The change will be returned if any. At the ticket gate put the ticket in the machine and DO NOT FORGET to take it and keep it until you put it into the machine when you get out from the ticket gate. The machine takes the ticket at the station of your destination. When you change the Kuko Line to the Nanakuma Line or the reverse, please note that you MUST PASS THROUGH A TRANSFER TICKET GATE (in GREEN COLOR) at Tenjin and Tenjin-minami stations, and DO NOT FORGET to take the ticket back from the machine.

Useful information of subway

You can buy “F-card” that is a pre-paid card of 1100, 3400, and 5800 JPY at all subway stations. The prices of the cards are 1000, 3000 and 5000 JPY, respectively. Please note that the cards are not refundable in any case.

The card is inserted directly into the ticket machine at the gate in the same manner as regular tickets. Please remind that you should keep the cards when you get out the ticket gate. The fare is automatically deducted from the card when you exit the station of your destination. With F-card you can use any ticket gate when you change the subway lines. 


FUKUOKA CITY
Fukuoka is the largest city in Kyushu Island, which is one of the main four large islands in Japan. Fukuoka is a modern city with a population of approximately 1,300,000. It is about 1,170 km from Tokyo, which is a 5 hour ride by train (Shin-Kansen) or 90 minute flight by air. Kyoto and Osaka are situated about halfway between Tokyo and Fukuoka. The climate of Fukuoka is generally mild, and the average temperature is ~15 °C (59 oF) in late November.

ACCESS
Fukuoka is reached by train and air from other major cities Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo.
Fukuoka University, the conference site, is reached by subway from Fukuoka Airport and Hakata railway station. Take subway Kuko-line and get off at Tenjin station. It is then a 10-min walk to the Tenjin Minami station of the Nanakuma subway line which is connected to Fukudai-mae station (16 min) which is in front of Fukuoka University gate. It takes about 40 min from Hakata and about 35 min from Tenjin to Fukuoka University.

Fukuoka University Accommodation

Fukuoka University Accommodation is suggested for students. Please contact the SSCJ30 Conference Secretariat by 30 September by e-mail.

Only accommodation in a triple room is available with shared w.c. and bath. The price is 3,000 JPY per night and per person. About 20 minutes by bus from the conference venue.
